Salad for Birdie

[This post contains affiliate links.]
Candy Girl at Bent On Better Lunches happens to live near-ish to me (only a 2-3 hour drive!) so we've gotten together a few times. I just love her Sproutlets. It's hard not to when they make me feel so loved! I did a bento to commemorate my first visit with them, and used this same birdie cutter to represent Birdie. So now I think of her whenever I use it!
So when I decided to make little birds around my purple broccoli tree, I thought of Birdie and the other Sproutlets the whole time. Love you guys!

Had I planned it ahead, I would have included some pickled green beans to represent Beanstalk and Pickle, and something fun for Bella... BabyBELL cheese, perhaps? And of course the broccoli sprouts represent Sprout. But I had already packed the smaller sections before deciding how I was going to decorate my salad mix. Oh well. "Sproutlet Salad" has a more sinister connotation...
organic apples, peanut butter; organic salad w/ romaine, red savoy cabbage, purple broccoli, golden and Chioggia beets, carrots, cauliflower, and grape tomatoes. Sunflower seeds, hemp hearts, and raisins in Mini Dipper
I used the little birdie cutter to make yellow birdies out of a slice of golden beet, and my flower veggie cutters to make a flower garden along with some cherry tomato stones or whatever. My salad mix had some red savoy cabbage in it, which totally hides the purple broccoli tree. I wish I had thought to tuck all the purple leaves underneath. Oh well.
And the cauliflower is for the clouds. If you look close, you can kind of see what I was going for... Maybe.
