I "Mustache" You Not to Eat My Lunch! International Fake Mustache Day Blog Hop

While the SuperBowl is fun and all, some of us thought that International Fake Mustache Day would be even MORE fun! So hop in a loop through all the mustachy lunch adventures.
You can scroll down to read more about my lunch, then check out more mustachioed fun at iPackLunch!

Lunch is in our Lunchbots Duo. (Right now at Lunchbots.com the Pink Duo is on sale for 15% off and free shipping - along with the red Trio, and Stainless Uno, Duo, and Trio. Sale ends in, like, 5 seconds. Seriously. February 4th! Step on it!)
I chose the Lunchbots because I was packing so little food, since we'd all just had the flu, and Little Z's appetite wasn't yet up to snuff. Smaller compartments make less food look like more. Win! (Or else you have to actually plan your layout cleverly. Which is more than my little Swiss-cheese Mama-brain can handle most days!)

I "Mustache" You Not to Eat My Lunch!
I skewered some fruit on some mustache picks (suuuuper cute, right?) Quick and easy! I put some extra fruit bits around them in the box, since I didn't want to clutter it up with too many picks.

I had a whole grand plan to make fake mustache sandwiches on little pretzel sticks, so she could hold them up to her face like a fake mustache. I ordered the mustache cookie cutters, and they were bigger than I'd thought. I had forgotten to get pretzel sticks, and really wasn't in the mood to go back. So I made-do with Apple Straws. Which added to the fail here. Or else my bread was too heavy.
Either way, they were too weak in the middle to hold up. I think part of my fail was that I'd used the stamper part of the cutter to press the bread down. They'd been sturdier before. And the other fail (although overall a win, nutrition-wise) was the Dave's Killer Bread. I should have microwaved it a bit with a damp cloth to moisten it a little, so it wasn't so dry. Well. Dry's not the right word. Firm, maybe? I specifically chose the flavor that said "Heavenly Texture," since I knew I'd want bread I could work with!
But otherwise I was pleased with the texture and performance of this bread. Organic, non-GMO, no HFCS, 100% whole grains (instead of some amount of whole wheat, and then the rest enriched wheat flour.) This stuff has, like, 4g fiber and 6g protein PER SLICE! YOWZA!

She DID have fun pretending the carrot sticks were mustaches though! And when I told her that my plan had been to make fake mustache sandwiches that she could play with, she said "But Mama, they ARE mustaches! They look just right!" Awww.
