Six-licious Birthday Lunch!

I can hardly believe that I've been doing this Mama thing long enough to have a six-year-old already! It's crazy how fast the time has gone! My girl's been having a rough year for some reason, so I wanted to help ring in her sixth with something special! Sadly, I didn't have a ton of time, or much inspiration at all, so I fell back on my "pickography" skills [using picks and tools instead of creating food art from "scratch"] and mostly copied last year's birthday lunch.

Her actual birthday was on a Saturday, so I packed this lunch to take to school the day before, along with birthday goodie bags for all her school chums. (Simple craft kits with fun foam shapes and stickers, metallic Mardi Gras-style necklace, and a glow bracelet for each kid, all from the dollar store. I like to show that you don't need dye- and sugar-filled food to make a child feel special celebrating a birthday at school, and that the other kids still enjoy a birthday "treat," even if it isn't food!)

I made the cake-wich using a sandwich cutter from the Lunch Punch Sweets set, then added some Peanut Butter and Co's White Chocolate Wonderful peanut butter as "frosting" before making a "6" out of dye-free candy-coated sunflower seeds. I went with the pale purple and blue because she'd like those colors best, even though they don't "pop" as well visually. It is her birthday, after all!
Then I filled in the "frosting" with India Tree Nature's Colors raspberry sanding sugar and yellow non-pareils. I added a few Surf Sweets heart gummies to remind the birthday girl that I love her so much!

She loves chocolate chips in her raspberries, so I included SIX raspberries with Enjoy Life Dark Chocolate chips (Top 8 Allergen-free and gluten-free!) as a special treat, even though she'd already be getting cupcakes with snack in her AM class.

And then I added SIX candle cupcake toppers and SIX baby carrots. Six-licious! (Toppers found at a bake shop - couldn't find them online. "Candle cupcake topper" gets a zillion results that involve actual wax candles!)
